Aeryn(Cat): Aeryn isn’t a thief or Rogue, she’s an “independent entrepreneur” – and if you call her a Rogue she’ll hit you with the 3d6 sneak attack she denies having and steal everything you own. Aeryn ran a “recovery service” in Baldur’s Gate for a while, but hooked up with the party after they rescued her from some orcs while she was on a job in Phlan. Since then, she sometimes wonders if she’d have been better off with the orcs.
Ginallath (John): Ginallath journeyed with Inigo for a number of years before they met the other PCs, either because his levelheaded intellect balanced Inigo’s fury, or because nobody else wanted to travel with either of them. Ginallath is possibly the most cautious of the party, occasionally putting things like the local political situation ahead of the desire to kill monsters and take their stuff. He values freedom and hates oppression of all kinds – thus serving as the closest thing the PCs have for a conscience. (painted by John)
Inigo Montoyelf: Some elves are noble and tragic. Some are fey and mysterious. And some are just jerks. Inigo is one of these elves. He’s relatively mild and unassuming until someone mentions orcs, whereupon he begins to foam at the mouth with genocidal fury. It has not yet been revealed in song or story exactly what made Inigo hate orc-kind so much, but it’s assumed that it involves his sister, his favorite dog, AND his mom.
MacTavish (Marc): It was rumoured during MacTavish’s acolyte years in the Temple of Tempus in Battledale that he actually wanted to serve the Red Knight, but walked into the wrong temple. He’s certainly a remarkably levelheaded and mild-mannered cleric of the God of Battles…until you make him angry whereupon he’ll hunt you down and smash your skull in. Normally he serves as the party’s voice of reason. Gods help them. (painted by redcoat668)
Wolf (Scott): Wolf’s main interests are loot and fighting – in that order, since he’s always happy to loot without having to fight for it. He’s effectively the party’s meat shield, a job he faces with a mixture of good humor and fatalism, and is generally happy to let someone else call the shots and point him at what he needs to kill. (painted by Frank)
NPCS:
Beck Darkmantle: Beck is a simple man, and alcohol is his one pure, deep love. Everything and everyone else is but a means to attain this sweet, sweet end. Fortunately for a man who deals with fine liquor better than he does people, Beck’s also a massive bruiser whose prowess with a two-handed maul is legendary in the Moonsea. Being infected with lycanthropy only made him more fearsome, and though he’s presumed killed by Girald, who knows if even silversheen can really put an end to him?
Bassana Rockmantle: Bassana discovered the hidden location of the Temple of Tyr’s sacred relics after a battle with ogres that left most of her party dead or wounded. Her luck proved just as poor with the PCs as companions, as they were overwhelmed by Mace’s orcs in the Temple of Bane. Her fate is currently unknown.
Bishop Braccio: The high priest of Phlan’s Temple of Tyr, and the senior cleric of the city. Braccio’s also a member of the City Council, and is a great supporter of adventuring parties attempting to clear the Old City. Cadorna’s support has won the party the Bishop’s attention. (painted by redcoat668)
Girald Authar: Girald’s had an eventful adventuring career, ranging from fighting lycanthropes in the Silver Marches, to crawling dungeons in search of artifact parts. He speaks with a northern accent, and is heavily tattooed with designs that suggest that a thieves’ guild somewhere is missing a guildmember. He’s a devout worshipper of Tymora, and has vowed to free any slaves he encounters. (painted by redcoat668)
Jerome of Melvaunt: Jerome deals in legal and not-so-legal goods, and his sources are legion. In their (frequent) efforts to re-equip themselves, the party has purchased “military surplus” from Zhentil Keep, Cormyr, and several other places. Jerome is a sardonic man who seems endlessly amused by the party’s attempts to make themselves rich and famous – but not so amused that he won’t sell them supplies or buy the valuable things they find in the Old City.
Nat Wyler: It isn’t easy running the seediest inn in a seedy town half-overrun by orcs and hobgoblins, but Nat makes a valiant attempt. His secret to success is his ability to keep everything he overhears to himself -coupled with the support of Phlan’s thieves’ guild, who often use his inn as a neutral meeting place. (painted by redcoat668)
Poryphrys Cadorna: The feckless, pleasure-loving scion of the Cadorna house is both the youngest member of Phlan’s City Council, and the party’s first and most enthusiastic patron, even after surviving an intimate dinner with both Aeryn and Vola simultaneously. He enjoys the prestige the party’s success is giving him, and seems to be grooming them for some greater task. (painted by redcoat668)
Rajmani: Raj hails from Tashalar, where her mother was a noblewoman and her father a sailor from Waterdeep. Ever the rebel, she rejected both her parents’ backgrounds and instead lived in the jungle where she sought wisdom from both druids and rangers. Raj is more at ease amongst plants than people, not because people make her uncomfortable, but because they actively annoy her. While she is, at heart, too good-natured to join those factions of druids dedicated to wiping out civilization, she’s certainly toyed with the idea. (painted by redcoat668)
Ren the White: Vilanestra’s old teacher. He and his feline familiar, Stympe, are captives of the mysterious “Boss” of Old Phlan.
Vilanestra: A sun elf mage from distant Evereska, who hopes to use the PCs to help her rescue her teacher in the mystic arts, Ren the White. Vilanestra’s fairly clueless about the Moonsea (she did hire the party, after all), but both she and her master appear to be “people who know people”, given her ability to assemble a reasonably competent group of adventurers quickly. Exactly what group she’s calling in favors from is currently unknown. (painted by redcoat668)
Vola: Alas, poor Vola! As if being the halfbreed offspring of orc raiders from the Plain of Thar wasn’t difficult enough, she had to fall deeply and irrevocably in love with Beck Darkmantle – a man who loves nothing that isn’t at least 90 proof. Fortunately for Vola, she’s not particular about loving the one she’s with when she can’t be with the one she loves, and at least three PCs have added to the notches on her figurative bedpost. She’s also immensely strong, and deadly with both greatsword and axe. (painted by redcoat668)
Villains:
Norris the Grey: A Zhentilar deserter turned bandit leader, this Half-orc led a ruthless band of humanoids operating out of a secret chamber within Kuto’s Well – until the party stormed his fortress and slew him.
Mace: A legend amongst orc-kind, Mace grew up among the wild tribes of the Plain of Thar, where he was soon known for his combat prowess and signature weapon as “Murda Mace”. He underwent a dramatic conversion to the more lawful (but still evil) ways of Bane, renounced his former lifestyle, and allied with the evil forces of Old Phlan. He was granted the abandoned Temple of Tyr, which he turned into a very successful temple to Bane. (painted by redcoat668)
“The Boss”: The unknown person (or persons) who rules the monsters and humanoids of Old Phlan. Possibly one of the original generals of the dragon armies who sacked the city over 500 years ago.
